Rover 45 has died and won't start

I bought a Rover 45 yesterday and as I was driving home the revs were bouncing up when parked at lights. Today, the engine light came on and the car died and refuses to start. Any idea what could be wrong?

Well not sure where to start, would suggest that firstly you charge the battery (or replace it). Then fit it to the car but DO NOT switch anything on for approx 30 mins - this will allow the ECU to reset itself.

If no go then it could be a number of things.
1.Check all fuel lines/fuel filter
2 Check all air /vacuum pipes
3.Check the CKP (crankshaft position sensor)
4.Check the ECT (engine coolant temp sensor)
5. Check the IAT (intake air temp sensor)
6.Check the injectors
7.Check the TP (throttle position sensor)
8.Check the CMP (camshaft position sensor)
