Audi Q5 with hidden accident history - can I demand a refund from the dealer?
In Sept 2012 I bought a 2010 Audi Q5 from my local dealer. When I bought the car I specifically asked if it had any history of accidents, damage or repairs; I was told it had not.
Earlier this year I noticed the paint on the offside doors and the rear bumper was slightly faded. I also found a receipt amongst the pages in the owner’s manual for a £250 Insurance excess and an invoice from Audi Guildford. I contacted them and asked about the car's history and they told me it had been involved in a large accident in August a few weeks before I bought it.
I wrote to the Audi dealer I bought the car from and told them I rejected the car and wanted a full refund, as I specifically asked for a car with no previous damage history. However, they have refused to refund my money and instead offered to machine polish the car and respray the bumper. I find this totally unacceptable. What can I do?

You can back the car for a full refund due to the dealer failing to disclose this essential information which dealers have been obliged to do for several years now. See the Consumer Rights FAQ under Ask HJ at www.honestjohn.co.uk
