Bought a used car that needs lots of work - who should pay?

I bought a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara privately, but after two weeks told by local garage that the car needs a new DPF and cat converter. The seller bought the car from the dealer in May, can I demand that the dealer fix the problem as it’s only three months since they sold it?

No, because you did not buy it from him so there is no contract between you and the dealer.
