Lack of torque in a Sorento
I have owned two Kia Sorentos for ten years, and have been very satisfied with them driving over 200k miles. At 60k miles in my second one, I experienced a definite loss of power in 3rd, 4th & 5th gears before the turbo kicks in, at about 1500 revs. As soon as the turbo engages everything is fine, and the car pulls away normally even when towing my caravan. I am obviously now using the gears more on inclines where speed limits or conditions demand.
My experienced mechanic, who does my servicing, can find nothing wrong. I recently did have a new fuel filter head replaced - the first problem in 10 years - but the fall-off in power at low revs continues.
Do you have any suggestions?

There is a rumour that KIA has been remapping the ECUs of its diesels to give turbos a longer life. If it's out of warranty you could consider taking it somewhere like www.superchips.co.uk to have it remapped for more torque at low revs.
