Which tyres for an X-Trail?

My X-Trail is presently fitted with 215/60 R17 96VMS Pirelli Scorpios. The local tyre dealer now advises that these have been replaced by Pirelli Scorpio Verde.

I have been advises 225/55R17 W97 for my vehicle. What is the difference? Would you recommend the Verde or any other tyre? The car is used for occasional towing of a caravan, occasional off road use as it carries a gundog, so rough and muddy tracks. Also used for business, so some motorway use.

There are about 7 different types of Scorpion and Verde are the most 'environmentally friendly' ones. 225/55R17s are the wrong size, bit not very wrong as long as they are fitted to all four wheels at the same time.
