Should I replace the airbags in my 2001 Volvo?

My 2001 Volvo V70 is 13 months beyond the date when you should contact your Volvo workshop to inspect and if necessary replace the airbags. It was serviced 12 months ago, but this was not explicitly checked. The Volvo dealer says that if the warning light is not showing then all is fine. Do you agree? I am concerned about them failing in the event of an accident now they are 12 years old.

The simple answer is to carry on as you are or to scrap the car because replacing all the airbags will cost far more than the car is worth.
