Looking to switch to petrol – what do you recommend?
Having read a great deal on your site regarding the cost of keeping diesels on the road, I'm seeking to switch to a petrol car with a budget of around £5000.
Preferably a mid-size hatch or compact estate; however, I prefer the power delivery at low revs within a diesel, and am looking for good fuel economy too.
Is there anything out there with a petrol engine that fits the bill, or am I better off sticking with diesels?

There is now, but not for £5000. My advice is to spend more and buy a used Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI 122.
