Which reliable car for £2000?
I need to trade down and as such am looking to spend up to £2000. It would need to be reliable, cover 30 miles per day with the odd longer trip. Other than that it would be on light duties. Economy isn't hugely important. It would only need to carry me and a few bits and bobs, but I am 6 foot 5!
I accept that whatever this vehicle might be that it is unlikely to run for say 12 months without some sort of repair due to mileage or age - preferably not with eye watering bills though.
I am minded to try a Lexus IS200 SE auto. Financial suicide or good idea?
Any other suggestions that might do the job? Your opinion would be gratefully received!

The best car for £2,000 is probably a Yaris 1.3, assuming you can find a good one. Spending that sort of money on a high spec luxury car is asking for trouble. They are only cheap because of the bills owners face.

I reckon I can save around £70 per month by swapping my Vectra DTi for something smaller with a low tax, high MPG diesel engine. Max spend around £2k. Would like a Corsa 1.3 CDTi but may be out of price...
