I put petrol in my diesel car?
I've put eight litres of petrol in my 2.0 diesel Peugeot 307. The car is 51 plate. The tank was in the red, I wasn't paying attention. When I noticed I then topped it up with 46 litres of diesel.
The car seemed fine and I hoped the car would be OK. That was three days ago and I've driven approx 80 miles but today my engine light came on and I could feel the car losing power. I manged to drive to work. I topped up the tank with another 6 litres of diesel.
When I attempted to drive home all seemed well and the engine light was not on. Just as I got back after driving approx 15 miles the engine light came on again and again my car was losing power.
My plan was to go and buy Some Wynn lubricating oil and pour it into the tank after reading some of your answers to similar issues. I'm now not sure if I should do that or take the car to the garage. I hoped I'd get away with it, but maybe not adding the lubrication oil has made things worse.

I've got away with 9 litres, but I topped up with Shell V-Power diesel that has excellent lubricating properties. So yes, try to find a high lubrication additive. Normally the petrol will 'float' on top of the diesel, so the only danger is when the fuel pick-up in the tank picks up petrol instead of diesel. But, of course, this is a 12 year old engine and the diesel pump will already have suffered some wear.
