How can we solve this insurance problem?
Some 6 months ago my daughter was stationary in the outer lane of an urban dual carriage way waiting for the car in front to turn right. A commercial vehicle in the inner lane side swept her causing extensive bodywork damage. The driver of this vehicle immediately accepted liability and gave insurance details and my daughter took the registration number. Her insurers provided a hire car (she needed and automatic with room for baby twins and all their equipment) and for the last few months she has received letters stating that the matter was being investigated.
Recently she has received a letter stating that the accident is now considered her fault and consequently, on renewal, her premium will be almost trebled. This seems totally unfair but is there anything she can do as this will now be on her record for insurance purposes and as a young family driver with essentail car use for work, she can ill afford the huge premium.
Is this another typical insurance company ploy? You help would be gratefully appreciated.

Sue the other driver for everything this is likely to cost her (properly accounted) starting with www.moneyclaim.gov.uk The small claims limit is now £10,000.
