Is the new Qashqai 1.6-litre diesel engine reliable?
I currently drive a 2010 Nissan Qashqai 1.5-litre diesel. I see that they now have a 1.6-litre diesel which offers a bit more grunt and better economy. The engine looks very complex and this makes me wary. What have you heard, good or bad?

The new engine is the most sophisticated 1.6-litre diesel engine in the world. It's designed to overcome the problems of diesel engines clogging their EGRs and DPFs, and so far it's been very successful. However, it is expensive to make and, according to Nissan, has to sell at a £2000 premium over the 1.5-litre diesel.
