Which diesel to replace my 2007 Renault Laguna?
I bought my third Laguna, a 2007 2-litre diesel Dynamique, in March 2010 with 20,000 miles on the clock. The car has now done 70,000 miles and, as this is my first diesel, I'm worried that I'm entering a danger zone for reliability and expensive repairs. If I were to change could you recommend anything else with similar comfort for long drives, but with perhaps better economy? I get around 42mpg, which is a little disappointing but is probably due to a slightly heavy right foot.

I’m pleased your Laguna has been reliable, which confirms Renault's efforts to turn the corner in this respect. As replacement you could go for another 2.0-litre chain cam Laguna diesel, which has been a slow seller in the UK, or switch to a belt cam Mondeo 2.0TDCI, as these have proved to be lovely cars and have given very little trouble over the past four years.
