Which small automatic car to replace a Toyota Yaris?
My wife and I are considering replacing our cars. My wife is 67 and is currently on her second Toyota Yaris, a T-Spirit with MMT transmission, which she does not find as easy as her first, fully automatic Yaris. This Yaris is now six years old. Should she look at another Yaris or something else?
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Space Star automatic and I am contemplating the Toyota Aygo as it would have cheaper road tax and better fuel efficiency than the Space Star. We both do a mixture of short journeys and long trips and average about 6000 miles each per year. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

The Aygo has the same sort of automated manual 'automatic' as your wife's Yaris, so it isn't a true automatic while the latest Yaris and Verso S have gone over to CVT automatics, which are much better (particularly the Yaris hybrid) and cost from £15,000.
To get a very small true automatic, look at a Hyundai i10 1.2, a Toyota IQ Multidrive S CVT, a Suzuki Splash 1.2 or a Vauxhall Agila 1.2.
