Should I buy winter tyres?
For the last 30 years or so I have been driving 4x4s, but now managing on a pension and not doing the mileage I used to do I am moving to something smaller and more economical: a Skoda Fabia SE Plus 1.2 TSI DSG petrol.
I am wondering whether I should consider winter tyres as an extra safety measure. I am not sure whether it is just the tyres or the whole wheel that is changed - and if there is a choice, which would you recommend?

Definitely. I prefer to keep my winter tyres on a separate set of wheels so that swapping them over is a simple matter that I can do myself. It also avoids any tyre or rim damage from swapping tyres twice a year, as well as the cost.

I have just replaced winter tyres (205/45/16) with standard ones, and wonder whether a set of steel wheels could be found to fit the winter tyres for next season, and at what cost?

We have a 2010 Skoda Fabia and a 1999 Subaru Justy but we need to replace these with just one car. We live in a forest and every winter have to drive on icy roads, so we need a 4WD. My Justy is super on...

Decently built and good value. Cheap to run. Greenline models are very economical with low CO2 emissions.
