Buying used Mercedes-Benz SL

I've been attracted to the used prices of the Mercedes SL350 and 500.

I'm just about to retire and would love such a second car to enjoy cruising in at weekends and maybe the odd holiday. I'm wondering if I'd be completely nuts to consider such a car I'm thinking of spending no more than £11k and if I'm not nuts, whether you can provide me with some pointers to assist me in my search.

Also, if you've a better suggestion I'd appreciate you sharing it.

Looks good and make you look rich. 2006 models with increased power vastly better cars. 388hp 500SL plenty fast enough and makes a nice noise.
