Want to fit higher profile wheels and tyres for comfort and less pot hole damage - how does this sound?

Had two tyres destroyed by potholes (no compensation from council) and I would like to change to higher profile tyres. What sizes could I fit?

The smallest wheels you can go down to will be 16" with 205/55. R16 tyres.
