What premium hatchback?
I have a budget of around £8000 and am looking for a premium hatchback. I am a young professional (21) so am looking for something reasonably grown up. My criteria is nothing higher than a 1.6 engine and insurance that doesn't amount to over £1000.
Thus far I have looked at the Audi A3 1.6 Petrol (08 plate usually) and various Alfa Romeo MiTo models. What are your opinions on those two models and is there anything else you could suggest?

With the Audi you are paying about 20% of the price for status. With nthe MiTo you aren't, but they are a bit cramped inside. No fun getting into the back seats. If you can find a Citroen DS3 1.6THP 150 Sport for your budget, that's what I'd sped it on.

Great looks and some really nice details inside and out, TwinAir and MultiAir engines are fun.
Good choice of engines. Some petrol engines now chain cam. Comfortable and well built interior. cheap to run 1.6 TDI. Feels very refined especially on the motorway.
