Take a magnet with you and check out all the wheelarches very carefully. If there's rot there, then there will be rot elsewhere. These cars can be rustbuckets. If the arches check out okay, then run through every single electric and electronic function the car has, because locating the correct failed SAM unit can take days. You'll be looking at 20-25mpg on a run; 15 about town.
