Ford Focus automatic transmission problems

I have a 2005 Ford Focus 1.6-litre with auto transmission. I've had the following problem with my car:

It happens after driving for some time, mainly urban driving. When I move to PARK, the transmission light turns on. Then when I shift from Park to Drive I feel a strong kind of 'kick' from the transmission box.

But as soon as the car starts driving the transmission light turns off. Also if the car engine is not working for about 2-3 hours the problem does not occur.
