Life of front tyres on a Handa Jazz

I needed two new front tyres on a three-year old Honda Jazz after 16,500 miles. They were worn on the edges to below the legal limit. Tracking was checked and found to be okay.

Tyre man said this was a good mileage with today's tyres. I am not a boy racer but a 70 year old! They are Bridgestone 175x65 R15's. I expected at least 25,000 miles, am I expecting too much?

Yes. Jazz front tyres normally only last 15k - 20k miles.
