Fuel consumption query.
You kindly answered my query earlier on which Toyota RAV-4 automatic is most economical but on your real mpg site you say that the 2.2 d4d auto will do 36.0 mpg.
Whereas the recommended 2.0i valvematic multidrive s says 31 mpg. Sorry if I am being dim but could you please clarify?

Well researched. We don't say that. Real drivers do. But it might reflect that the drivers who submitted mpg all used their cars for short distances in towns where diesels are inappropriate and that could explain it.
There are some strange variations in reported mpgs for RAV-4 diesels, as is some drivers have logged their mpgs against the wrong cars. But there's nothing we can do about that.
