Horrendous tyre roar!
I recently traded my 2005 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi titanium in for a VW Golf 6 2.0 TDI GT. The car is a 3 door fitted with the optional 225 40 R18 wheels, it was a late 21st birthday present to myself. The car in question is a three year old immaculate example in tornado red with 40k on the clock.
The Golf is better in every way than the focus accept for unbearable tyre roar! At any thing over 50mph for more than 10 minutes I get a banging headache, the car has 4 brand new 'hi-fly hf805' tyres, I think they are the main source of the problem as they seem to be cheap foreign imports.
With no reviews or buying places on Google I can only assume they were dirt cheap, I'm used to driving brand new Mondeos, Focus and Kugas with 19 inch wheels as I work for a large hire/leasing company so I know its never going to be limo quiet, but what tyres would you recommend me fitting. I'm not interested in massive grip levels or amazing fuel efficiency, like most the population I just want a quiet commute home after a long day at work.

I think you're right. Never heard of hi-fly hf805 tyres. Muxst have been fitted by a dodgy vendor to make the car legal at minimum cost (you will know that lease companies typically do this prior to disposal). I'd go for Michelin Primacy 3, Michelin Pilot Exalto or Michelin Pilot Sport 3 depending on how much you want to spend and how much you put grip above tyre lifer and economy.
