Mini Clubvan Petrol or Diesel

I am agonising over Petrol or Diesel. Because the Diesel is only available in Cooper spec which I do not particularly want there is a difference in price of we'll over £2000 between the two. I do about 17000 miles a year of mixed running but very little motorway work and intend to keep the vehicle until I retire in about six-seven years.

This is obviously part of the upmarket strategy for the Clubvan. I would not have marketed it that way. If you will be doing a lot of short run from cold (I guess unlikely at 17k a year) then petrol better. But 17k a year says to me that you will claw that £2k back in lower depreciations as well as lower running costs.
