My Galaxy makes disturbing noises

My Galaxy lost power and started making Thumping and knocking noises. pulled into services and had AA look at it, the turbo air intake looked as if smashed and had come away from the turbo... loss of power resulting, however he states that debris may have gone into the engine creating the knock or thump, could this hold true?

I am currently sourcing a pipe but the noise is quite disconcerting and do not want to damage the engine anymore.

yes he could be right, broken parts may have entered the engine internals .It would need to be completely checked over.
