Buying a used car for £5000-7000
I own a Toyota Carina with 147,000 miles, which has been very reliable and going well. Of course there are some age related issues on it, but it passed its MoT recently. But I have started a new job and am doing about 500-600 miles a week, and need a new car.
I have a family of four with occasional long trips, what do you recommend?
I have been reading about the diesel problems - very scary. I'm worried to buy one as, if there are any problems I will have to pay for repairs, and also lose money for not being at work, as I am self employed part time.
Is LPG conversion worthwhile for me? What car would you say will fit LPG if so?

If you buy a diesel try to get one with a chain cam engine and no diesel particulate filter, such as a Hyundai i30 or KIA cee'd 1.6CRDI up to year 2009.
