Which car should I choose?

I wonder if you could give me your opinion on what car i should purchase next. My partner and I are really torn between a Ford Focus C-MAX or a Renault Grand Scenic. Our budget doesn't stretch very far, and we currently drive a Xsara Picasso 1.8.

The models we have looked at is the Grand Scenic 1.6 and the C-MAX 1.8. We would prefer petrol engine as I have read bad things about the early model diesels for both cars. We are really torn but one of the main things that concern me is reliability. So please what is your opinion between the two choices?

The C-Max 1.8 has a chain cam Mazda engine that is a bit juicy but very reliable and no timing belt to worry about. Just treat it to regular oil changes. The model has been more reliable than the contemporary Scenic. Avoid electric parking brakes.
