Brake wear in my MINI
We have had a MINI Cooper S from new, and have just taken it for its first MoT. Mini rang my wife and told her the the back discs were shot and needed replacing. The car has done 19,000 miles however...
I told them not to do it, as they wanted nearly £300. They didn't do the discs but didn't fail the car, he also asked me to sign a document saying I had taken the car and it was dangerous. I refused to sign, but he gave the MoT pass slip. Why is there no comment on the MoT sheet about dangerous brakes and why did it pass?

Rear brakes do very little work. Consequently the rust that accumulates on them overnight does not get cleaned off by braking. That's why they fail first.
