Tow car with plenty of boot space - advice please

We need a large car to transport five dogs, and tow our 1500kg caravan. We currently have a 2006 Citroen C8 with a cage system in the rear.

Like the look of a Discovery 3, but worried about high fuel consumption as we cover fairly high mileage travelling to shows around UK and Europe. Budget is up to £20,000.

Probably a Ford Galaxy 2.0TDCI. Not quite as big but better to drive than a Sharan or Alhambra, and has a more reliable engine.
