Worth repairing my Vectra VXR Estate?
My much-loved Vauxhall Vectra VXR estate (2007, 55,000 miles and valued about £6,500) suffered total engine failure two weeks ago. Just been told by dealer that cost of replacement engine and fitting estimated at '£5,000-ish...'
Should I repair it and keep it? If so, what other bits (apart from the engine) should I look to replacing/repairing to bring it up to new?
Or should I sell it for bits and buy something else? If so, what do you think could match its performance, driveability and load-carrying for the same money?

This was quite a car in its day. I only drove it once, but remember it quite fondly. I'd look outside the dealer for a repair. Try www.fer.co.uk

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
