What should I look out for when buying an S40?
I am going to be looking at a 2004 Volvo S40 1.9D manual with 22,000 miles on the clock, backed-up with a Full Volvo Service History and all the paperwork.
It is a 1-owner car from new and has been owned by an elderly gentleman.
Is there anything which I should look out for or areas which are have known to cause problems?

An S40 1.9D must be the old model S40, late registered. It has a Renault 1.9 diesel engine, not the PSA 2.0 litre diesel of the 2004 - 2012 S40.
This gives you all the information I have on that model: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volvo/s40v40-1996/
