Failed DMF on a Mondeo
I have a Mondeo 2.0 Titanium X TDCi, registered in 2008, I have had the car since new (July 2008) and have been the only driver.
The car has just had its Dual Mass Flywheel and clutch replaced as they were burned out. The mileage is only 28,300 miles and the mechanic said that the Dual Mass Flywheel and clutch were in the worst condition he had ever seen. He showed me one he had taken out of a much older mondeo which had done 140 thousand miles.
Is it possible that this was faulty from new? Were there any recalls?

That is the lowest mileage I have ever heard of one failing on a Mondeo. Usually they last anything from 40k miles to 200k miles. If it's with a Ford garage they should take it up with Ford. If it's with an independent mechanic, Ford probably won't help.
