Changing to a deeper profile tyre?
I wish to change my tyres for a deeper profile.
It currently has 215/45 R17W and I wish to improve the comfort and protect the rims better from kerb damage.
Can I fit a deeper profile such as 50 or 55?
Will the speed be very inaccurate if I do?
I know that I would have to advise the insurance company.

No. You have to go down to a smaller 15" wheel size to fit a deeper profile tyre.
