Starter motor overrun and clutch problem

Starting up from warm only, there is a lot of clatter which sounds like starter motor does not disengage soon enough. Yesterday this was accompanied by clutch failure but then after fiddling with pedal it corrected itself. Any ideas?

Reads like a failed dual mass flywheel. The starter ring is on the outer flywheel.
