Petrol or diesel new car?
Doing less than 6,000 miles per year I will be heeding your advice and moving back to petrol power when next changing car (also confirmed by the turbo being coked-up twice in last two years in my SAAB 3.0TDi Izuzu/GM engine).
However, have you noticed that many makes do not offer their highest specs in petrol formats? Do you think this will change with time as people become aware of the pitfalls of modern diesels or is it something you can query with your contacts as to why?
It also seems that garages aren't necessarily giving good advice to buyers as neighbours have just bought a diesel 3008 and I suspect they do similar mileage and types of trips to me. A recipe for future problems and expense.

Fleets buy more than half of the new cars in the UK and they want high spec with diesel economy and low BIK. They do not care about what goes wrong with diesels after 3 years old because they will have disposed of them by then. But they will care if public reaction to the problems with used diesel affects residual values.
