DPF regeneration problem with Passat

The DPF light suprisingly came on after a motorway run between Liverpool and Northumberland. I tried the usual of driving as the manual stated, but an extra light came on saying take to garage! I couldn't take the car to a garage that day and when I restarted the engine to do so two dayslater there was a third engine light on and the car was in some form of limp mode.

RAC atended and all was linked to the DPF issue. RAC stated that a forced regeneration of the DPF could be done, which my local garage arranged for me. Apparently the car failed to regenerate the DPF on the last threee attempts and the filter was 67% clogged.

All was well and I even noticed better fuel efficiency, but two weeks later on the DPF came on again! It cleared this time, thanks possibly to me doing a motorway run in 4th gear. But although the car had done a local low speed trips that day, I was suprised that the DPF light came on only two weeks after the forced regeneration.

So, is there another problem I need to look at?
Is the DPF in need of replacement?

Earlier in the year I suffered the injector problem, for the second time. Thankfully VW covered the cost and replaced all injectors (apparently they now accept it's their problem and cover out of warranty). Is the DPF problem linked to this?

Other issues which may be related are littlepower losses at low speed, as if the car is about to cut out, no eveidence of this when accelerating though, just when trying to do a steady 30 or 40.

Reads as if the DPF could be coming to the end of its days. With nothing much to lose you could try one of the proprietary additives that claim to clean up a coated type DPF.
