Volkswagen Golf warning lights

The garage is currently at a loss - getting the engine unit checked but wondered if you had any suggestions. My VW Golf 1.9TDI has been fantastic but recently been serviced and had timing belt changed and now the engine light comes on (sensor been changed x3 in case one faulty but engine light remains, goes back on when garage starts the engine).

In addition, now the air bag light comes on and then it started losing power in fourth when driving.

My Dad is a fan and suggested I email you so any ideas gratefully received!!

Well it sounds as though your engine is going into limp mode, because one of the many sensors is faulty. Difficult to understand why the garage cannot fault find the problem, if they have good diagnostic equipment.

You do not say what year your car is, but one of the known faults is water ingress into the air filter which in turn effects the MAF (mass air flow)sensor resulting in reduced air supply to the engine.

Other than that checking the fuel filter should be done.
