Engine cutting out since brake work

I drive a 2003 Ford Focus and my batt light keeps coming on when I am either braking or steering, then the revs drop or it sometimes cuts out. I have just had some work done to the rear brakes and the fault has started since then but I don't know if this is related.

It's because the engine is not revving enough, possibly because the brakes are binding.
