Broken 1 Series timing chain
My timing chain has snapped on my BMW 118d. It has done 86k and recieved a full service just over a month ago, since the service it was involved in a collision from the rear which needed a new rear bumper. It was over its service interval by 10k before it went in and was serviced by Kwik Fit. Is there any way the timing chain could have snapped due to the accident, also should Kwik Fit have checked the chain for any wear/damage?

Snapped because the oil had not been changed frequently enough and consequently blocked the oilway to the timing chain tensioner.
