A good car for a new family
My wife and I have recently had our first child, and as such now have significantly more stuff to lug around. We also need better access to the back of the car than our '03 plate Honda Civic Type R can provide.
I've been looking into diesel estates (something like a BMW 320d Touring, Volvo V50, Ford Mondeo TDCI Estate, Honda Accord Touring) but I only have a budget of £7500 and still want something fun to drive but reliable.

The Mondeo 2.0TDCI is probably your best bet. But you could also consider a 2007-2011 Civic 1.8 because they handle well, can do 45mpg and are cavernous inside. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/honda/civic-2006/?se...t
