Replacing a car lamp
A friend was called by his daughter to replace a failed indicator lamp on her car. Having visited Halfords to purchase the lamp he found they would replace it for £3.99; let them do it was the easy option. It was a N/S/F indicator lamp, & my friend is a very competent engineer.
Two hours later & with four Halford employees attending at various stages, they could not replace this lamp! As luck would have it, whilst trying to remove the old lamp, it worked again...a poor connection, it seems
The point is, HJ, this is not uncommon from what I read & hear about when it comes to changing car lamps on all sorts of marques. This frequently entails a visit to a specialist at exhorbitant cost due to the time, (labour), involved.
He did praise the time & effort put in by the folk at Halfords...they offered a good service & tried their best to replace a car light bulb, but to no avail. They also offered to refund the £3.99, well done!

I have been running complaints about this for 17 years. Happily the stupid requirement to carry a spare bulb kit in some European countries when the driver could not fit the spare bulbs has now been relaxed by some of them. But not Spain.
