Small automatic car - is it worth looking at the Mazda2 1.4 ASM?
I am learning driving automatic cars and thinking of buying a second hard small auto.
I found that Mazda2 1.4 ASM seems cheaper than Toyata Yaris or Nissan Micra, and is keen to buy one.
But the second thought is that if it is cheaper, then there must be a reason.
Is the ASM (auto-shift-manual) engine a true automatic?
Can you comment on the performance of the engine, especially the realiability? Is it the same as the more recent Mazda2 Activematic?

You must be talking about the old Mazda 2. Yes, that had an automated manual transmission, not an automatic. The Yaris had either a 4-speed auto or an automated 'MMT' manual up to 2006. After that it had only the automated manual. The best older auto is the Yaris 4-speed auto.
