Refused to pay a fine, now risking court - What do I do?
My husband received a £90 parking fine notice from UKPC recently. The signage in the retail carpark was inadequately displayed so that only the words '2 hours free' could be seen.
The notice he received in the post had a photograph of his car but it described it incorrectly as a Toyota. My husband refused to pay the fine, saying that if UKPC's signage was invisible, then it did not exist, therefore he had not broken any laws. He also ignored the reminder.
UKPC then passed the supposed fine to a debt recovery company who demanded full payment within 7 days, and then sent a second letter within that time limit. They are now threatening court. What's the best way to answer this please?

Challenge them to take him to court. Though the BPA claims to take a number of parking contract transgressors to court, in fact this rarely happens and when it does most win their case.
