Fuel Ecconomy

I bought this car four weeks ago and I am getting 35 mpg average on a 400+ mile round trip. Driving on the motorway for over 80 miles at 76 mph with cruise control on I can not get the trip screen to show more than 39 mpg.

When driving on A class roads at 40/50 mph in 6th gear for over 20 miles I get up to 41.5 mpg. Have you done a road test on this car and if so what mpg can I expect to get?

Because computer diagnostic checks are showing nothing Ford are insisting there is nothing wrong with the car and will not give me any road test mpg figures.

Furthermore they are refusing to answer some technical questions I have asked and say that the published calculated average of 47.1 mpg may not be achievable.

Check it out at www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg and if it is not on there, please upload your own average mpg. I think your figures are about normal. Drive at 70 on the cruise and you would probably get 45mpg.
