2002 Passat consuming too much fuel
My 2002 1.9 TDI Passat estate 130 occasionally cuts out when started from cold (usually on pulling up at the traffic lights) and is slightly heavier on fuel than it used to be.
Now get around 37 per gallon around town but used to get around 43. Had the injector loom replaced before xmas as car was running very rough and have put back in to the garage last week to get the injectors checked out.
They are apparently all in good health and they cant find any obvious faults with car. Any suggestions please as to any other possible causes of these problems.

Probably just getting old and worn or dirty. Try adding an injector cleaner to the tank, or running on Shell V-Power diesel.
