Wheel size and suitable tyres

What size wheels would you recommend for a BMW 530d Sport please? Currently my vehicle is fitted with BMW 19-inch wheels but I'm considering swapping to 18-inch or perhaps 17-inch to reduce road noise and improve ride quality. What are the best tyres for the wheel size you recommend?

Come down to 18-inch or 17-inch with appropriate size tyres of the same rolling circumference. 18-inch probably Michelin Pilot Sport 2. 17-inch probably Michelin Primacy 3.
