Running-in and fuel consumption
I have just bought a petrol engined car for the first time in more than 10 years as my annual mileage is now only around 12,000.
I exchanged my 59 plate Fiat Bravo 165 Multijet Sport for a new 140 Multiair Sport. I am enjoying the great low end torque the Multiair supplies and it has plenty of pull and power.
I am following your running-in guide for the first 1,000 miles, taking it up to 4 and 5,000 revs and allowing the revs to change fairly constantly. When will I start getting a 'true' consumption figure over a range of driving conditions?
At present it's is between 33 and 37 mpg in a mix of urban and motorway driving covering the first 700 miles. The diesel was closer to 47 - 51 mpg at a similar time of life.

You are probably getting its true consumption for winter conditions, but can reckon on this improving quite a bit as the ambient temperatures become warmer.
