Infrequent turbo failure on Isuzu Trooper

I've had my 1996 Isuzu Trooper from new. She is a fantastic workhorse and has been used for significant towing almost every day. Never had a problem and still on her original brake disks after 155k miles. The turbo stopped spinning with subsequent power loss aqbout 6 months ago, and upon garage inspection the bearing and oil seals were all good.

The vacuum hoses etc. are all OK. It just started working again after about 3 weeks all on its own but making a slightly louder turbo "whine". 2 days ago it seems to have stopped working again as power is low and no whine is evident. Have you ever come across this before?

Also, just for the record, we have recently scrapped our beloved "Ethel" a 1993 TD Cavalier also owned from new. Our son took her over about 10 years ago whilst living in Scotland but the scottish road salt finally put paid to economic rust repair after 260K miles and no mechanical failures whatsoever on this Isuzu engined GM car.

Coked up turbo bearing. But I'm very surprised that it suddenly freed up. Normally, not spinning it would have got worse and worse.
