Engine failure - can you help?

I stopped driving after red warning light (oil pressure I think). AA attended but couldn't diagnose fault so towed to garage. Garage seem wary about stating the cause but have declared a new engine is needed.

Any reported problems that can help me with warranty claim? Car is only 18 months old, with approx 40K miles.

Could be a failed oil pump drive. This is much less prevalent in PSA/Ford's 2.0 litre diesel than it is in VAG's 2.0 litre diesel, but there have been a few cases.
