Buying a Vectra?
I have been offered a Vectra 2004 2.0 DTI estate with just over 100,000 on the clock. I have 2 young kids so this would be perfect as I have a passat just now and it is getting quite tired.
The guy that is selling is giving up driving due to ill health and is looking for around £1400 for the car. It doesn't have a service history to speak off but he has replaced the front suspension and water pump recently. The bodywork is in great order but I don't know what to do. Although it is not a lot of money i have 2 babies and don't want a money pit.

That's chain cam and a better engine than the later 1.9 diesel. Might be okay. And no DPF to worry about.

You tend to advise against turbodiesels in general on reliability grounds on 3+ year timescales. However, in i30 and cee'd reviews you appear to recommend the diesel engine. Is this purely because of warranty,...

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
