My Vectra won't start

I have had my Vectra 1.8 2001 model for around a year and I have had no problems at all until just after Chistmas. About 3 weeks ago I started my journey and about 4 miles down the road I was stopped at traffic lights and the engine just cut out. When I came to start it again the light with the spanner in it was flashing and the car would not start at all.

I left it for 10 mins then it ran for around 2 mins then it ran on thee cylinders and then cut out again, it did this 3 times then it started - I had no problems for two weeks then it did the same again.

But in the week I only drive 2 to 3 miles to work so i think it is doing it on longer journeys.

I have changed the ECU and put a new coil pack on.

I have just gone out today to use the car and both the light with the spanner and the light with the picture of an engine are both flashing and the car wont start at all.

I have had the car plugged in to a code reader and it is just throwing out random codes.

Well if your engine is fitted with the Bosch ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor, then the problem is most likely that the harness is coming loose due to vibration. This is a known fault and there is a modification available.Check with either your local garage or a dealership.
